🤝

Cooperative values

Trust, honesty and responsibility are the essence and business policy with which we were born and continue to operate.

Born from a cooperative spirit

The story of Cocla Tours is deeply tied to the struggle of small farmers in the Valle de La Convención to achieve better living conditions and fairer markets.

From the agrarian reform of the 1960s to the creation of COCLA, and then Cocla Tours in 2008, every step has been driven by the same values: responsibility, honesty and social support.

1960s

Agrarian reform in Peru

Farmers in the Valle organize into cooperatives after decades of unjust conditions. Land ownership is transferred to those who work it.

Post-reform

COCLA is born

The Central Agricultural Coffee Cooperative of La Convención and Lares is founded, allowing direct sales in international markets at fair prices.

July 2008

Cocla Tours is founded

The Coclatours Tourism Cooperative is created within COCLA, with support from Agriterra and Cordaid, to develop community-based tourism.

2008 – 2012

The 7 pioneer families

7 families in Santa Teresa and Huayopata are identified near tourist circuits. They receive training, advisory support and loans to launch the project.
