    What to Expect

    Experience two emblematic products in one day. Discover cacao at Julia’s farm by walking through fruit trees, learning to toast, peel, and grind dried beans, preparing your own chocolate drinks, and also enjoying the 100% paste with fruits. Later, join the Pérez family on their coffee farm to understand the coffee journey from plant to cup, and enjoy lunch with them in a beautiful rural setting.

    Practical Info

    This tour involves a long but scenic drive. Best departure points are Ollantaytambo or Urubamba if you are in the Sacred Valley, especially if you just returned from or are planning to visit Machu Picchu.

    ☕🍫 Coffee & Cacao 1-Day Tour – Adjusted Itinerary

    🚐 Pick-up

    • 04:00 AM – Pick-up from hotel in Cusco
    • 05:00 AM – Pick-up in Urubamba (upon request)
    • 05:30 AM – Pick-up in Ollantaytambo

    🌄 Scenic Journey to the High Jungle

    • Stop at Abra Málaga (4,300 masl) – enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes and the cloud forest. Optional: visit to a local coffee shop to enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. We recommend this experience; consumption is up to you.
    • See alpacas, snowcapped peaks, and the transition from the Andes to the jungle.

    🍫 Stop 1: Cacao farm Experience – Huayopata – Julia´s farm

    • 09:00 AM – Arrival at Julia’s farm

    Activities:

    • Walk around the farm discovering medicinal plants and native fruits.
    • Learn about cacao varieties and experience the aroma and flavor of fresh cacao pulp.
    • Try dried beans and roast them on-site.
    • Peel, grind, and prepare cacao paste.
    • Enjoy fresh fruit with a cacao tasting.

    ☕ Stop 2: Coffee Experience – Family Perez

    • 01:00 PM  Short transfer to the nearby coffee farm

    • Tour Start: We suggest starting the tour from the Sacred Valley (Urubamba or Ollantaytambo towns) to reduce travel time and make the journey easier.
    • Clothing:
      • The weather can change quickly. On the way, we might stop in high-altitude areas where it can get chilly or windy, or it might rain a bit, so bring a proper jacket.
      • At the farm, the weather is warm and humid. It’s best to wear long-sleeve shirts and long pants to protect yourself from the sun and mosquito bites. A hat or cap and insect repellent are also recommended.
    • Shoes: Comfortable, waterproof shoes for walking on dirt paths or farm trails.
    • Sun Protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses are useful.
    • Hydration: Bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during the day.
