Coffee and Cacao Experiences in Cusco’s Cloud Forest

Between the Andes and the Amazon, the valley of La Convención grows some of Peru’s finest coffee and cacao. We were pioneers of rural tourism here: in 2009, within the COCLA cooperative, we began welcoming travelers to family farms, and we still work with the same families today, all certified organic and Fair Trade through the cooperative.

On the coffee tour, you take part in the whole process with the Pérez family, whose coffee is rated specialty grade. On the cacao tour, you discover the local varieties, including Chuncho, a native cacao that is highly valued today. And getting there is part of the adventure: from Cusco, the road crosses the Andes at more than 4,300 meters before dropping into the cloud forest.
