    Itinerary

Sacred Valley – Coffee or Cocoa Plantation Tour Itinerary

Day 01 Cusco – Sacred Valley – Huayopata (Coffee Plantation)

8:10 We will pick you up at your hotel and begin this journey into the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the way, we will visit the market town and ruins of Pisac, whose larger-than-life agricultural terraces will leave you breathless

PM After an optional buffet lunch in Urubamba (see restaurant options and prices below) we will journey on in the direction of Ollantaytambo, where we will visit the famous Incan ruins and quaint town, which has maintained the original urban planning of the Incas.

After your tour, we will continue in a private or public vehicle for about three hours to the coffee plantation and organic farm, where the rural family will be waiting to welcome us. Upon arrival, you will take a quick tour of the farm, eat dinner with the family and retire to your private room (with hot water for showering).

Day 02 Huayopata – Ollantaytambo or Cusco

AM – After breakfast with the family, we will head to their farm to learn more about their livelihood. Here, you will try local fruit that is in season, and learn about different tropical produce such as coffee, cacao, coca, and tea among others. You will learn most about coffee, which is one of the representative products of the area, and which the family exports through their cooperative. These cooperatives award organic certification as well as adhere to fair trade practices. You will discover what exactly is behind a great cup of coffee, and even be able to prepare your coffee in the traditional artisanal way of the region.

PM – After lunch, we will bid farewell to the family and continue on our way back to Ollantaytambo or Cusco, let us know in advance, where your final destination is. In the case of Ollantaytambo, we will finish 3 hours later, if Cusco 4 hours.

Note: if you plan to connect this trip to Machu Picchu, We can drop you off at the train station of Hidroeléctrica in Santa Teresa, which means to travel off-road for about 2 hours, after which you can take a train to connect your trip to Machu Picchu.  The train is scheduled at 5:10 pm. Another option is to drop you off in Ollantaytambo town, from this town you can also catch a train to Aguas Calientes. There are services at 7 pm. Inform us of your plans and we will make your journey as smooth as possible.
