ITINERARY OF THE INCA JUNGLE TREK

Day 1: CUSCO – ABRA MALAGA – SANTA MARIA

Our journey begins on a bus leaving Cusco between 7:30 and 8 in the morning, with a panoramic view of the city. We will head in the direction of Ollantaytambo and climb to 4,316 meters above sea level to the Málaga Pass. At this point, we will choose the best place to start our descent on a bike. We will be able to test our adrenaline to the backdrop of the valley and breathtaking view of the Convencion Province. We will descend until we meet mysterious cloud forest, then lush vegetation of a temperate zone, before finally entering into thick jungle vegetation and arriving at roadbeds. Here, we are at our halfway point and will visit the Incan ruins of Wamanmarka. Finally, after about three hours on bike we will arrive at the small town of Santa Maria 1130 meters above sea level, where we will have lunch. You will spend the night in a hostal with basic services, or you can opt to camp. We will share dinner together before turning in for the evening.

OPTIONAL: Rafting after the bicycle tour (Not included)

Day 2: HIKING IN THE JUNGLE

After breakfast, we will begin our hike in search of an unforgettable adventure! We will walk amongst paths filled with vegetation and recognizable plants such as coffee and the sacred plant of the Incas: coca! We will walk on original sections of Inca Trails, and come into contact with the history of the Incan roadway system. We will pass by bridges and in the middle of our hike we will rest to have lunch and lounge in hammocks to gain strength for the rest of the journey. We will make our way through the forest to our final destination of Santa Teresa for the night, and eat upon arrival before spending the night in a basic hostal.

OPTIONAL: Visit the thermal baths of Cocalmayo. Highly recommended!
