    Add-Ons

Cusco City & Sacred Valley 4D Tour Optional Add-Ons

    Andean Community (+1D)

Spend a day with the Andean community in the Sacred Valley for a unique experience learning about native customs. You will have lunch with the community, and afterward, you will participate in some coveted local traditions, such as learning about local agriculture centered around potatoes, and Andean grains, among others. The specific program will depend on the time of year. Dine with the community before spending the night in a homestay.

    Maras/Moray/Chinchero (+1D)

These three places are some of the most important historical sites in Peru. Moray was an Incan agricultural laboratory that consists of concentric circle terraces. These terraces were used to grow hundreds of different crops according to different ecological needs, however all in one location. After spending some time in Moray we will drive to the salt flats of Maras where you will find salt mines still used by locals today! Chinchero is a small community outside of Cusco, where indigenous women still practice traditional weaving methods. Here you will receive a presentation about how alpaca wool is cleaned, dyed, and woven into intricate designs.

    Potato Park (+1/2D)

Did you know that Peru is home to over 3,000 types of potatoes? While this attraction may not have every potato known to the country, there are upwards of 1,000 different species here! This project aims to protect and restore hundreds of species, with an emphasis on sustainable and traditional agriculture. While on tour at the Potato Park, we will sample white, yellow, and purple potato varieties with different traditional sauces. You will also see local women weaving traditional cloth, and be able to purchase items if you wish.

    Southern Valley (+1D)

During the Southern Valley addition, we will bring you to the impressive complex of Tipón, which was an important ceremonial and agricultural center. Water was quite sacred to the Incas and here you will have no trouble seeing why! The next stop will bring you to Pikillacta, once a great urban center during the pre-Inca Wari empire. It consists of more than a thousand constructions including plazas, fields, housing, temples, and wide streets with buildings that at one time were four stories tall. Lastly, we will take you to Andahuaylillas: This chapel has been named the “Sistene Chapel of the Americas,” due to its intricate colonial murals, and its 24-carat gold plated alter, and polychrome ceiling.
