    The Salt Flats Tour Half Day Description

    On this tour we will have the opportunity to visit the following archaeological complexes:
    Salt Flats or “Salt Mines”: Consisting of 2,000 small wells, local families still come to the Salt Flats of Maras to extract salt, which is an activity that dates back to Inca times.  During, the Inca Empire people used the salt to barter for other foodstuffs.

    Moray: Moray consists of large natural pits in the surface of the earth that were used to construct concentric agricultural terraces, in addition to their respective irrigation canals.

    Maras: This picturesque town offers sights from the prehispanic, colonial, and republican eras alike. The town’s streets and colonial facades showcasing noble crests from the 17th and 18th centuries especially stand out.
